Füssen - A Small Town of History Culture
Füssen is an idyllic town south of Germany in the State of Bavaria, nestled across the banks of the Lech River. A brief history of Füssen flows like the waters of the Lech is constant and ever changing. The specific town comes from the Latin world Fauces, meaning gorge.

Today, Füssen is over 700 years old, but has largely preserved the history within the very structures that litter the town here and there. Some of the places to go to in this town are the Kings Palaces, which will take you to an era when royalty and nobility lived within the town.

Climb down from the High Palace towards the Baroque central where you will find buildings with architectural design dating back to the early 1600s.

Füssen is also referred to as Romanticism capital of Bavaria, thanks to its architecture and history. Enter the Fussen Heritage Museum and find out about the rich history of the entire town. The museum itself is a piece of history, since it was the West Wing from the Benedictine Monastery of Saint Mang.

The Museum is extremely rich in archaeological finds since the Benedictine Monks have kept to preserve Christianity and data for the last 1,000 years. The Monastery seemed to be the spiritual center of of Füssen, which also means the focal point of governance.

The town of Füssen is also located across the Romantic Road route, a 350-kilometer stretch of road so named due to the number of romantic spots and towns that are of high culture and rich history. The very same road was used centuries ago like a very important trade route that connects Germany to the rest of its southern neighbors.

Fussen offers a majestic backdrop from the great Alps as you cruise along the Romantic Road. There are many types of art, culture, and gastronomic treats you will discover along the stretch, presenting themselves in architecture, painting, or delicacies.

The scenes from Fussen are the ones of a fairy tale. Numerous churches that symbolized the epicenters of political and spiritual influence hundreds of years ago are still standing, while on the horizon sits a castle where Kings used to live. King Ludwig II is renowned for having built most of the castles seen in the Romantic Road.

You may also go for a trip to the character side of Füssen. Heat Balloons occasionally blot the sun, and bikers and hikers usually choose the paths along the river. For any quick yet still romantic look at the whole town, tour on the horse-drawn carriage.

There are also sports accommodations in this little town of Füssen. You will find gyms where you can play tennis, and there is no shortage of land where one can play golf. Water sports are also available nearby at the Lech River.

There are tours readily available for Füssen online. Escape for this town south of Bavaria and spend per week in slow, relaxed time loop where palaces still exist and thousand-year-old monasteries dwell in waiting for the next traveler it will enchant.
